EXCLUSIVE FOR LCMS & Cascade Mycological Society MEMBERS ONLY!
WORKSHOP INFO:
Wednesday, October 23rd, LCMS & CMS (Cascade Mycological Society) are hosting an all-day Mushroom Identification Workshop with Christian Schwarz, Co-author of the just-released Mushrooms of Cascadia: A Comprehensive Guide to Fungi of the Pacific Northwest.
If you’re a member (or become one soon!) you can join Christian for an all-day classroom and field mushroom identification workshop in Newport and the surrounding area on October 23.
Learn the basic terminology and important ID characteristics; get an overview of print and online resources and how to use them; learn key features to note for identification in the field; learn how to use different types of keys and how to utilize the best online resources like iNaturalist; learn how to preserve and prepare samples for genetic testing. The class will include a field component in a local forest area where samples will be collected and brought back for “hands-on” identification under Christian’s guidance.
Class size is limited to 20 people. Cost is $35 paid in advance.
Class will go from 9am to 4pm and will be based in Newport.
